The Season's BEST recipe!

Maple Pumpkin Custard
If you love pumpkin, and you love custard, then you will LOVE this recipe! I have actually made it twice this month, it was that good. But then again, I love to cook custard. It is such an elegant, yet simple dessert! And this one will leave you wanting more and more. It is really is that good. I got it out of the Family Fun magazine (my other bible!) It isn't low fat. It isn't quick but it IS GOOD! Enjoy!

And More...

Here is Little Austin in his Dragon costume. I think he is the cutest dragon ever.

Here is Dad....OH WAIT! Or is that Daren?
Kaila also threw a halloween party for some kids. She made these little pumpkins as party favors. I think they are sooo cute!
Jake decorated his cupcake. I LOVE that the frosting had been licked before he put anything on it!! And the candy was long gone before I could get a picture.

Halllooooween!

I LOVE Halloween. I don't really enjoy decorating my house or anything, but I LOVE to dress up. For anything. Normally we don't EVER get invited to any parties. But we were lucky this year, for some reason. We were invited to a murder mystery party (A TON OF FUN!) Jeff was the rich railroad operator, and I was his wifey. We had a wonderful time. Then, I had my halloween party. I kept it really low-key but we had a lot of fun. I am already thinking of a costume for next year. This year was creative, but I kind of blew it by not going "all out." Of course we didn't win best costume. Oh and the black eye....that was from my surgery. Really, it was! Happy Halloween!

We are a bubble bath and a bar of soap, by the way.

This is Juliana at Gabby's Halloween party. She was a cute little ballerina!

Last the Best of All the Game!

Whenever Jake comes home from school, I always ask him how his day went. He always replies, "pretty good!" But Tuesday, I got a different answer: "Not very good." Then the tears started to flow. He crawled up on my lap as he started to sob. I asked him what happened to make his day so terrible. Between sobs, he starts to tell me a story: his teacher started to hand out school pictures to take home. Jake waited and waited. Finally, she called his name. Then Jake says. "MOM!!! MY NAME WAS THE LAST ONE SHE CALLED!!!" Well, Jakey, I am afraid that will be the story of your life! W usually is towards the last of the alphabet! But - "last the best of all the game!"

Scarecrow Festival

On Monday, Ryan, Kaila, and I took the children to the annual Scarecrow Festival for the first and final year. (Ages 2-5 are $5. Ages 6-18 is $14. Both Kaila and I feel $14 is a rip off....thus the first and final year of OUR attendance!!) The kids had a wonderful time. The festival included several inflateable jumpers, a train ride, a haunted house, games for the kids and food for purchase. I wish we could have spent a little more time. But then again, the adults were ready to leave long before the kids were!
I absolutely LOVE this picture! Ryan actually captured the moment. Notice the line. Notice Juliana toward the top. Notice how she COULD CARE LESS that she is holding up the line! That's my girl!
This was Juliana's favorite inflatable. Princess, of course! She had a ball!

Great picture of Jake! This was before he got lost. He got nervous because I "went missing..." He booked it over to the entrance to find me - but I wasn't there because I was trying to locate my child who RAN OFF! So, he looked and looked and looked. He was finally smart about it and found a worker who helped me hook up with my missing child. Of course, it wasn't MY fault, now was it?! Another great parenting moment, brought to you by Jen...Of course.
Does it look like she is having fun?? I can't tell!

Hello! GOODBYE!

Yesterday was a monumental day for the Lifferth clan: Daren gave his Homecoming address. Ryan gave his Farewell address. Daren served in the Massachussetts Boston Mission and Ryan will serve in the California San Fernando Spanish Speaking mission. They both gave impressive talks. I am in awe with how incredible my brothers are. Daren worked faithfully in Boston - and we all know Ryan will work wonders in California. He is so well prepared. He is an excellent example of what the church refers to "raising the bar" in missionaries. He leaves Wednesday for the MTC. Good luck Ryan - your humor, laugh and love will be missed. But we are so happy for you and your desire to serve a mission. Work harder than you have ever worked , pray harder than you have ever prayed and come home in two years with NO REGRETS!!! WE LOVE YOU!

Daren, Craig and Colter...Scott, Jeff and Ryan. My "brothers" (maybe not all by blood, but brothers nonetheless! Well, except Jeff, he's my love muffin!! :-) HAHA!)

Karalee and I - my FAVORITE sister-in-law. I can say that because she is my ONLY sister-in-law. For now anyway! :-)
Daren, Grandma, Grandpa and Ryan. They were nice enough to come - even though their poor car (and poor wallet) suffered greatly in Elko. The transmission blew! It was fun to spend time with them.

What day is it anyway?

Where in the world has this month gone??? To be honest, I can't even tell you. First of all, I spent two weeks in Boston picking up Elder Lifferth. We arrived home on a Tuesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday night were spent celebrating Kate's (Jeff's sister's) wedding. THEN, Angel (our friend from Mexico) arrived on Saturday afternoon, September 29th. (Yep, we had a overbook: Kate's wedding and Angel's visit - but it all worked out.) Then, for the next two weeks, we entertained and enjoyed a visit from our Mexican friend, who, by the way, doesn't speak any English. I will have to say that my Spanish has improved quite a bit. As long as I had my trusty dictionary, I could say anything. Whether or not he understood was NOT my problem! :-) I think we did pretty well. Jeff, of course, had "no vacation" days left - which meant I was doing all the entertaining with three small children. Angel never complained but I am sure he got sick of us. He left on Saturday, October 13th. BUT I wasn't finished yet! Daren and Ryan's Farewell/Homecoming was on Sunday. They both gave impressive talks on the Atonement. We had a large family gathering after the meetings. Basically, I am saying that I am EXHAUSTED. Purely worn out. And that would explain why I haven't done any blogging.
Kate and her dad during their dance.
We took Angel to the Utah Olympic Park. I think we enjoyed it far more than he did.
One of his favorite things was to view the changing colors. He was in awe at Utah's beauty. But who wouldn't be? It's gorgeous!

September Moments

I hired a babysitter for Juliana one afternoon. The cute girl actually did Juliana's hair!!! I returned home to see her in a ribbon. The clothes still weren't clean, but at least we are making progress!
I absolutely love this picture of Addy. Jeff took it, so I can't take any credit.
My cute kids
A picture with my brothers. They sure are great. I love you guys!

Boston, you are the one for me!

Well, we finally returned from our trip back east. It was so wonderful to reunite with Daren and see the sights of his mission! Below are just a few of the photos we took. For a complete view of all the photos (if you have an hour to two) visit my album here. I took over 250 pictures!!! But they were all so fun, I couldn't delete them. Nor could I post all of them on my blog. Boston is my favorite city. It is so full of history, culture and exciting things to do. One of my favorites, was the Boston Children's Museum. Friday nights is dollar nights. I was a little terrified to go, because it may be busy. (Well, it certainly would be in Utah!) But we went anyway and it was hardly crowded!!! The kids loved it, I loved it and I loved the cost! (Couldn't beat a buck!) I also loved eating pizza every day. I loved walking around the freedom trail and seeing church history sites. We had a great time! Below are just a few of the photos I have.
