Happy Valentine's Day!

I always love Valentine's Day - despite the sales and ads. I love having a day set aside to give my love to all my family and friends. (Of course, some years are more elaborate than others...) This year was very low key. Jeff made us very elegant and DELICIOUS "Cognac-Peppered" steaks, asparagus, potatoes and salad. We got the recipe from the paper and Jeff said he wanted to try it. He even went to the liquor store to purchase the cognac - except it was $32 a bottle...too pricy for ONE MEAL! (Of course, if we drank, it would be well worth it!) So, we googled cognac and found that apricot, pear or peach juice is a substitute. (Who knew?) However, we substituted again because we didn't have any juice - but we did have apricot jam!?? It worked wonders and Jeff created a delicous meal. I fed the kids early and put a movie on so we could have some nice dinner conversation, however, Juliana (having the fine taste in food that she does) kept coming up to sample the dinner. We still had a great evening, especially since Jeff cooked and cleaned. What a treat! Thanks Jeff! PS - if you want the recipe, just let me know. Really - it was incredible.

The last picture is one of Juliana's outfits - she really should start hitting the catwalk - this girl has taste!!
